Battery Charges Dropped for Stormy Daniels

TAMPA, Fla. — Florida prosecutors have decided to drop a misdemeanor domestic-violence battery charge against adult performer and director Stormy Daniels.

A spokesman for the State Attorney’s Office of Hillsborough County declined to comment further except to say that “the state decided not to prosecute” Daniels.

Daniels was arrested in late July for domestic violence when she allegedly battered her husband because she was “upset because the way the laundry had been done.”

Daniels, who was charged for striking her husband “Michael [Mosny] on his head with her hands several times,” said she did not intentionally hit her husband but acknowledged tossing a potted plant in the kitchen sink, throwing the couple’s wedding album on the floor and breaking some candles, according to a Tampa Bay Police Department report.

After spending a night at Hillsborough County jail, she was later released on $1,000 bond. That bond has been deactivated as a result of the Daniels case being dropped.

She had been scheduled to face arraignment Sept. 3.

Larry Flynt Calls for National Strike

Hustler founder Larry Flynt has called for a national strike in an essay titled “Common Sense 2009″ released Friday on the opinion website The Huffington Post.

Flynt mentions changes in securities laws that led to the recent banking crisis and says that President Obama “cannot stand up to the powerful Wall Street interests that supplied the bulk of his campaign money for the 2008 election. Nor, for that matter, can Congress, for much the same reason.”

In the essay, Flynt calls for a national strike, “designed to close the country down for a day,” to advocate campaign finance reform and restrictions on lobbying. “Let’s set a date,” Flynt said. “No one goes to work. No one buys anything. And if that isn’t effective — if the politicians ignore us — we do it again. And again. And again.”

Stephanie Swift Diagnosed with Breast Cancer

Veteran performer Stephanie Swift has been diagnosed with breast cancer and is considering a double mastectomy “because I don’t want to go through this again.”

Swift is 37 and has been a performer since 1995.

She discovered the tumor doing a breast self-exam.

“I was watching those City of Hope commercials at 3 or 4 in the morning, watching TV and studying my script,” Swift told XBIZ. “I said ‘OK, fine, I’ll check.’ I checked my right breast and I checked my left breast, and there it was.

Swift wants to make a documentary about her illness.

“I’m talking to Nica at Sweetheart Films and they’re possibly interested. I definitely want to document everything that I’m going through. I know for a fact that this can help someone else, because I’m not the only person this is going to happen to.

Swift also said she wants to start a nonprofit organization to help raise money for her surgery and help people in similar circumstances. A fund has been set up to assist Swift with her medical bills. Checks should be made out to Swift’s mother, Heidi Clark, and sent to:
