ICANN

SEOUL, South Korea — The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has voted to allow non-Roman characters into web addresses, but it won’t be cheap.

ICANN voted in Seoul, South Korea, this week to approve the measure, which will open up the web to the “100,000 characters of world languages” that haven’t been supported all this time.

But acquiring a non-Roman URL won’t be as easy as typing a few words into GoDaddy.com. Registries that choose to offer the unique URLs will have to pay ICANN $26,000 up front and contribute money annually. Registries that move a lot of volume will be expected to give 3 percent of their money to ICANN every year, while smaller companies will only have to give 1 percent.

The measure marks a sea-change in how the Internet works. To date, Internet servers have only been able to interpret URLs that include the 26 letters of the English alphabet, as well as the numbers 0-9 and the hyphen. That will change as all servers will have to add support for characters from dozens of new languages, including Arabic, Persian, Russian, Hindi, Greek, Korean, Hebrew, Japanese, Tamil, and both simplified and traditional Chinese.

In addition, ICANN set plans to launch a process called Fast Track that will give governments the power to reserve top-level domains (TLDs) in their own language. TLDs are also known as the suffixes to web addresses, such as “.com” or “.net.”

The Fast Track process launches on Nov. 16. ICANN expects to approve the first non-Roman URLs by the middle of 2010.

But will these new URLs be a boon for online hooligans? Spammers might be able to exploit this new option to buy phony domains that look like larger domains. For example, a phisher could simply add a non-Roman character to a common domain like Google.com and wind up with a web address that not only looks like Google at a glance, but that also has a dot-com ending.

Hot Mormon Muffins

The calendar is called Hot Mormon Muffins. The principle? Have sexy, supposed Mormon women pose with trays of muffins, and then list recipes for the muffins. So you’re caught somewhere between a boner and a baker. Which is way weirder than a rock and a hard place. There’s only one problem. The creator, Chad Hardy, was excommunicated from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for his OTHER endeavor, a calendar of Mormon men, called “Men on a Mission”. Ostensibly, for converting their religion into a fetish. Albeit a weird, sexy, one.

Article Courtesy of Manolith.com

Debuting for 2010, the Hot Mormon Muffins: A Taste of Motherhood calendar features twelve beautiful Mormon mothers who have dared to pose in a steamy national calendar.

These mothers are on a mission to powerfully tear down stereotypes and promote religious and cultural tolerance around the world. Hand-selected for their beauty both inside and out, the “devout dozen” are stepping away from Mormon stereotypes, and “baring their testimony” to demonstrate that they can have strong faith and be proud of who they are, while reaching out to a broad audience with a sense of individualism and a sense of humor.

The Mormons Exposed project has created a polarizing response around the world. It has also created interfaith dialog and raised awareness to help sort out some common misconceptions of Mormons, while offering a human perspective to its outmoded image.

Jesse James' child custody case

Sandra Bullock is finally a mother. Sort of. Mom to the five-year-old heir to a porn legacy.

The National Enquirer reports that the 44-year-old Speed star is assuming full-time motherhood duties to her husband Jesse James’ daughter—whose biological mom happens to be disgraced former porn star Janine Lindemulder.

Lindemulder, the 40-year-old star of such blue-movie classics as Where the Boys Aren’t 10 and Janine’s Got Male (she also served as the cover model for the Blink-182 album Enema of the State), was sentenced to six months in prison last month for willfully failing to pay more than $200,000 in outstanding federal income taxes.

Now a family court judge has granted James temporary full custody of his and Lindemulder’s daughter, Sunny, while Lindemulder serves her sentence.

The judge’s order bolsters the adult-film actress’s long-standing fear that she’ll lose custody of her daughter to James and Bullock.

Lindemulder had been warring with James—the former star of Monster Garage and owner of motorcycle empire West Coast Choppers—over custody of Sunny. Back in July, when she was indicted on the tax-evasion charge, she angrily texted a message to her ex stating, “U WIN. Sandra has her baby…congrats.”

“This is a dream come true for Sandra, but it’s Janine’s worst nightmare,” a source tells the Enquirer. “Now that Janine’s going to prison, her fears of losing Sunny are one step closer to becoming a reality.”

Lindemulder was married to James for 13 months until 2003, when they split up while she was seven months pregnant. Bullock began dating the 39-year-old motorcycle builder several months later, and the two married in 2005.

Surely Bullock will make a fine temporary mother. But if the tot ever asks Sandra if she recommends going into the family business, stepmom had better ask the girl which one.

Smash Pictures was represented by company owner Danny Quinn along with the vice president of sales Stuart Wall and enjoyed a magnificent presence with a giant 50 foot banner they shared with Hot Movies containing the image of Sasha Grey hanging off the front entrance to the Messe Berlin in what was a mission to expand the Smash brand on an international basis.

Exotic Erotic Ball

Perry Mann founded the Exotic Erotic Ball in 1979 as a freakout fundraising event for his friend Louis Abolafia, who was the Nudist Party’s nominee for president.

“I have nothing to hide,” Abolafia (who died in 1995), said. Abolafia also coined the slogan “Make Love Not War,” and that is the guiding principle of the event.

The Ball has grown each year. In addition to the Human Petting Zoo, sex clinics, bondage demonstrations, erotic art exhibits, live bands, and the Blue Room (for discerning couples), the Ball and its accompanying Expo has for the last several years been held at the massive, State of California-owned Cow Palace, which says a lot about the grooviness of the Bay Area.

In advance of my journey to San Francisco Friday, I talked with EEB executive producer Howard Mauskopf, who works with Perry Mann and a staff of 30 to organize the 2-day event.

Gram: San Francisco might have rainbow flags in every window, but it seems just as often a polarized town, wherein one fetish or orientation can get very militant about itself in relation to others.

Mauskopf: It’s a wild party but it’s also laid-back, almost hippie-ish. A lot of the people who will be there have attended this for the past 30 years. With that comes kind of an attitudinal throwback to the Peace and Love years. There’s no threat. Whether or not you’re a participant in that lifestyle, you won’t be threatened, you’ll be amused. You’ll experience sensory overload. Everybody is peacefully coexisting. That’s the thing that I’m most proud of.

Mariah Milano Arrested for Shoe Assault

Mariah left this comment at LukeIsBack. You can also read Mariah’s recap of the 17th Annual NightMoves Awards and also see her pictures from the event here.

“Hey everyone. I’m NOT in jail. I did get arrested for getting into a fight in the parking lot of the hotel on my way to the after party. I was drunk from doing shots with my girls at the Night Moves Awards Show and had some weirdo fan approach me in the parking lot. He was asking me to sign photos and take pics and I was out of porn star mode. I was in no shape to take pics so I refused and he called me a bitch. I was with Savannah Stern and she asked him to leave and he talked more shit. I ended up hitting him with my shoe lol and he pressed charges. He had 2 other fucking weirdos with him who gave statements saying I hit him, which I, did but he got up close to me and was really fucking scary so I hit him. I admitted it to the cops and went to jail for about 6 hours. The cops were very nice and the charges were dropped.”

“The guy was NOT supposed to be at the hotel lurking to approach pornstars at 2am but security wasn’t doing shit about it. There was no one around but Savannah and I and it was very scary. He was a big guy and was very persistent.”

“So, ok, thats the scoop. Yes I got arrested and went to the clink, but I’m out and it’s all good now. Thanks for all the emails with the well wishes and concern.” – xoxo Mariah

James Deen & Joanna Angel

Brooklyn, N.Y.—BurningAngel founder and “Queen of Alt Porn” Joanna Angel is pleased to announce that one of the most incredible Jewish males in adult cinema, James Deen, has been recognized by Heeb magazine as one of the 100 most important Jews in the world today.

“James Deen has starred in more than 2,000 adult films over the last five years,” proclaims Heeb. “And with impressive awards like Male Performer of the Year at the 2009 AVN Awards (he was the youngest male ever to win that prize) to his (porn) name, it’s safe to say that Deen and his 10-inch penis aren’t just dicking around.”

“I’m pretty shy, but I do want to thank Heeb for this merit,” says Deen.

“I was inducted into the Heeb 100 in 2005—and now James in 2009,” says Joanna Angel. “I think it’s kind of cute—and it’s very evident that Heeb has very good taste in Jewish porn stars.”

Deen joins Adam Busch, Alexander Gould, Gal Gadot, Paulo Costanzo, Rachel Grady, Robert Siegel, Yoav Shamir, Rodney Rothman, and Ry Russo Young in the film and television category of the Heeb 100. Those named, for the most, are the real names of the fellow chosen.

Heeb magazine was brewed in Brooklyn in 2001 as a take-no-prisoners zine for the plugged-in and preached-out. Covering arts, culture and politics in a voice all its own, Heeb has become a multimedia magnet to the young, urban and influential.

Lorelei Lee

One of NYU’S newest grad students is better known for her XXX-tra curricular activities.

When she’s not in class, porn star Lorelei Lee jets to the West Coast to film skin flicks with some of the biggest names in the industry.

It’s a lifestyle Lee, 28, knows well.

The busty blond has been working in porn and juggling life as a student for nearly 10 years.

“It’s not weird anymore,” said Lee, a first-year student pursuing a master’s in fine arts. “I’ve just been doing this for so long.”

Still, the Buffalo native doesn’t spend much time with classmates. She fears even a question as simple as, ‘How was your weekend,’ could lead to some hairy conversations.

Though she may not know it, Lee’s classmates are big fans – of her decision to pursue a master’s.

“It’s wonderful,” said Ayesha Attah, 25, of Brooklyn. “Whatever experience you can draw on, you should. Hers is amazing.”

Michelle Kim Hall, 27, is equally supportive. “Good for her,” said Hall, of Los Angeles. “The woman who won the Oscars for best screenplay [Diablo Cody] was a stripper.”

Lee’s stories, based heavily on experiences in the porn business, have appeared in $pread magazine and the Denver Quarterly.

A 2008 graduate of San Francisco State University, Lee decided to pursue a master’s in creative writing on the advice of former professors, she said.

When the porn queen got the acceptance call from the head of NYU’s program, she was elated. “She said they were excited about my writing,” said Lee, dressed in a pink tank top, black mini-skirt and knee-high boots. “I don’t know if she says that to everybody, but it felt pretty good.”

Lee has been in more than 200 films since entering the porn business at age 19, and she’s been nominated for three Adult Video News Awards.

She gets paid up to $1,400 per day, and estimates she has made between $30,000 and $60,000 a year.

The worlds of academia and porn have collided awkwardly for Lee.

At a shoot in Los Angeles last month, a crew member asked the topic of a book she was reading. “Two misogynists looking for love,” Lee told him. “The same plotline of the movie.”

Lee isn’t quite sure what she wants to do after she graduates, but she doesn’t expect to leave the porn industry. “I still do get something out of my work in porn,” Lee said. “I think I’m good at it.”

She feels her skills carry over into her writing. “The ability to focus on what’s happening right at that moment,” Lee said. “In these fields, you have to have a lot of personal drive.”

Marge Simpson Poses in Playboy

One of the most prolific media icons ever conceived has decided to pose for a spread in Playboy Magazine. This blue haired beauty has graced our television screens since 1989. She’s a loving wife, responsible mother, and a long respected Springfield community member. Marge Simpson will finally show off the color of her “hair down there.”

The three page pictorial will be featured in the November issue of Playboy, along with an interview and data sheet. Don’t worry Playboy fans, Marge will not be booting the regular “real life” model featured every month. Marge’s skin and lingerie display is in tribute to “The Simpsons” having it’s 20th anniversary. The show has been renewed for two new seasons, which potentially will make it the longest running prime-time TV series after “Gunsmoke.” This Playboy issue will also include a tribute to Farrah Fawcett, an interview with Benicio Del Toro and a feature about “30 Rock” star Tracy Morgan.

TMZ has obtained a copy of the issue’s cover. Click here to check it out.

Free Speech Coalition

CHATSWORTH, Calif. — The Free Speech Coalition said it plans to file a lawsuit Wednesday with 14 other plaintiffs challenging revised record-keeping rules.

With the pending suit, the FSC claims that the revised 18 U.S.C. 2257 and 2257A regulations are unconstitutional, as well as an unfair burden placed to producers to comply with the regulations.

FSC attorney Michael Murray said in a conference call Monday evening that he plans a “substantial constitutional attack” and hopes that the FSC and 14 other plaintiffs will prevail and obtain injunctive relief.

“We plan on a full-scale attack raising 1st Amendment, 5th Amendment and 4th Amendment issues,” said Murray, noting the FSC chose the U.S. District Court in Philadelphia because the court has extensive experience in the area of obscenity.

“The court also is in the district of the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, which also has extensive experience in that area,” Murray said.

Murray is hopeful the court will hear the case by the beginning of 2010.

The FSC’s announcement comes just one day after the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear an appeal in Connections Distributing vs. Holder, which involved the ability of a publishing company to post sexually explicit photos of swingers to accompany advertisements seeking like-minded adults.

The 14 plaintiffs attached to the suit represent a rainbow of individuals, organizations and companies that one way or another publish or screen erotic material, from performers to photographers to studios to an adult entertainment business journalist.

In addition to the FSC, Murray said at the conference that the the 14 plaintiffs in the case are:

* The American Society of Media Photographers, which represents 7,000 members.

* Barbara Nitke, a teacher at the School of Visual Arts in New York and a commercial photographer.

* David Steinberg, a photographer and writer of sexual issues.

* Nina Hartley, a performer and website owner.

* Michael Barone, a photographer.

* Dave Cummings, an adult industry performer who owns numerous websites.

* Tom Hymes, an adult industry journalist who runs a website.

* Sinclair Institute, which operates sexual health clinics.

* Channel 1 Releasing, which operates a gay porn studio.

* Barbara Alper, a photographer.

* Carol Queen, a sexologist and feminist sex educator.

* Dave Levingston, a photographer.

* Betty Dodson and Carlin Ross, who co-host a website.

Exxxotica Pornstars

PORN STARS SHINE AT EAST COAST EXPO!
By Don Benn

Porn stars galore and a midget at the door met throngs of adoring adult entertainment fans at last months’ EXXXOTICA New York (actually New Jersey) xxx-travaganza.

The sexy sister show of the oh-so-hot EXXXOTICA MIAMI (actually Miami Beach) turned up the heat in the PA-NJ-NY tri-state area as over ONE HUNDRED porn stars, feature dancers, internet models, and the kinda’ girls who play for pay co-mingled amongst and among thousands of predominately male attendees all energetically eager to rub shoulders (and other assorted and often more fun body parts) with some of adult filmdom’s favorite females.

Long-time PNN readers, especially those who’ve been with us for years would have xxx-perienced a sense of déjà vu at the star-studded line-up of past PNN Consumers Choice Awards Show winners including (but certainly NOT limited to)…Jesse Jane, Tera Patrick, Gina Lynn, Sunny Lane, and Jessica Drake.

In addition to the unusually well managed usual autograph and photo areas, the three-day event was jam-packed with informative, educational, and just plain enjoyable seminars and stage shows on a wide-range of topics including “Everything You Want To Know About Porn”, “Inside The Porn-Actors Studio”, “An Introduction To Swinging” as well as adult versions of popular television games shows like the “Porn Family Feud” (featuring past a present Vivid Productions superstars), “Are You Smarter Than A Porn Star (featuring Adam and Eve’s Kayden Kross), and live (because, let’s face it – “dead” would have sucked) performances by Heather Hunter and 2 Live Crew.

Exxxotica Crowd

Undoubtedly, the center of attraction (also the largest and most trafficked area) was the LEGENDS OF EXXXOTICA pavilion featuring such history making performers as Teri Weigel, Lisa Ann, Kylie Ireland, Christy Canyon, Taylor Wane, Ginger Lynn, Alexandra Silk, Seka, and male performers including Sean Michaels, Mr. Marcus, and Luc Wylder. Obviously, no LEGENDS show could ever be complete without adult industry icon and NightMoves perennial favorite Ron Jeremy (signing at another booth).

While darn near every star in attendance was sexy and beautiful this humble reporter needs to give special “props” to Taryn Thomas, the shows’ hardest working performer (first to arrive/last to leave every day), Jesse Jane and jessica drake (for making every fan feel important), Amy Fisher (yes – THAT Amy Fisher) just for being there, and last but far, far, far from least to Joanna Angel for receiving an Outstanding Alumnus Award from Rutgers University (class of 02).

On a personal note: EXXXOTICA New York marked the first show I’ve attended since my retirement from adult industry journalism three years ago. While ever so slightly less than flawless, the three-day expo provided adult entertainment fans a rare east cost opportunity to get thisclose to so many of the most beautiful women in the world. Parking was plentiful (and free), and the wide-aisled non-smoking/alcohol-free exhibition hall never produced the sardine can-like /A” train at rush hour claustrophobic/too close for comfort experience of many west coast expos.

The show also reflected a wide-range of east coast adult entertainment tastes including: punked and pierced goth gals, big bootied babes, swingers, fetishy females, glam girls, and a potpourri of porntastic performers sure to make anyone say “WOW”!

Fan shows, be it LA Erotica, AdultCon, AEE, or the just-concluded EXXXOTICA serve an important purpose – they add a sense of personalization and humanity to an often impersonal and even more often dehumanizing industry. And, oh yeah – they’re a hell of a lot of fun as well.
