Jayda Diamonde – Great business sense and instinct, a stronger than death work ethic and an ass load of determination (with an emphasis on ASS! lol)! A little luck and maybe a push by some big time players wouldn’t hurt either of course! These are definitely all things we can attest you have in spades. How would you describe your introductory years in porn, and why?

Jayda Diamonde – Introductory? Is that what they call those? LOL… I call them the “Learnin’ & Burnin’” years. First comes the “learnin’”… learning how the business works, figuring out who do to business with, and more importantly, who not to do business with (the “burnin’”). You make your choices and deal with them! Seriously, I think it’s well known my very first experiences in the valley were less than stellar ones, but I learned a LOT in that first year and wouldn’t trade the knowledge gained in spite of the bullshit I endured. There is no manual, no playbook. You get lucky and someone picks you up when you first start or you climb your way to the top. I’m still steppin’ and with the help of my fans at HotMovies and around the world, I hope to keep it that way!

As do we! After having gone through the trenches of Adult Industry life, are there any agents or agencies you would suggest to someone joining the adult industry today?

Jayda Diamonde – I do not currently endorse any agents or agencies within the adult industry. Agencies change staff all the time, and for me to put my name on someone or some place as being “recommended”, I would have to know and believe in that company first. Since I am not represented by any agent or agency, I won’t be able to do that. I will suggest that anyone seeking employment within the adult industry first contact some porn stars represented by agents and agencies. Don’t get references from the agents, go to the source, the stars, and do the homework for yourself. This way you can get a real grip on who is who, and what is what.

That may be the most honest answer we’ve have ever heard. Thank you for sharing such great advice. It will also debut Artcore, the latest release from visionary director Carlos Batts, in conjunction with the AEE show in early January. The adult film performer who tested HIV-positive finally spoke out Tuesday, calling for mandatory condom use in porn productions, improved testing for sexually transmitted disease and follow-up care for fellow performers.

Derrick Burts, 24, said he tested HIV-positive in October at the AIM Healthcare Foundation in Sherman Oaks after working in both gay and straight porn films for a few months. He had previously been identified only as “Patient Zeta.”

Producers of straight porn regularly check performers’ test results using a database maintained by the clinic, known as AIM, to clear actors for work.

Derrick Burts, who performed in straight films as “Cameron Reid” and gay films as “Derek Chambers,” said he was tested at the clinic Oct. 8, then received a panicked call from clinic staff the following afternoon, summoning him to the office.

When he got there, he said, clinic staff told him that he had tested HIV-positive. They wanted to perform a follow-up test and begin notifying performers he had worked with since his last negative test result Sept. 3. Those performers, he was told, would be placed on a quarantine list while they, too, were tested.

Derrick Burts said he gave clinic staff the names of about a dozen performers he had worked with in California and Florida in both gay and straight productions. The list included his girlfriend, who also works in the industry as a performer. He watched as clinic staff began scanning a performer database, notifying those he had named and placing them on a quarantine list.

The clinic has since said that none of the performers on its quarantine list tested positive. Derrick Burts confirmed that his girlfriend tested negative.

He said that when he returned to the clinic Oct. 23 to review the second test results, clinic staff told him that they had traced his HIV infection to someone he had performed a scene with whom they described to him as a “known positive.”

Although straight porn performers must show negative HIV test results before filming, the gay porn industry does not have the same restrictions, although condom use is typically required.

Derrick Burts said he asked who the performer was and clinic staff told him they could not reveal the performer’s name or gender due to patient confidentiality.

Clinic officials could not immediately be reached for comment Tuesday night. An attorney for the clinic was traveling outside the United States, according to an e-mail received from him earlier in the day.

Derrick Burts says he may have contracted the disease during a gay porn shoot in Florida. He said the performers used condoms during intercourse but not during oral sex.

Q: Do you even remember the first time you realized there was porn on the Internet?

Luke Wilson: You know, I’m just not computer savvy. I mean, I can barely work my BlackBerry. I feel like, for me, it was a couple of years ago. But just to hear that it started back in 1995 is pretty incredible.

Giovanni Ribisi: It is something that you’ll often find at the beginning of any technological advance. The early proponents for DVD technology, for instance, were the adult-film-industry producers and pornographers. But I remember when porn was sent via e-mail on dial-up modems, so it took an eternity to even pull up a Web page.

Q: So if porn isn’t one of your Internet vices, what do you surf for on the Web?

Luke Wilson: BobDylan.com. That’s it for me. Literally, I can’t work a computer. I feel like a knucklehead saying it. I barely got out of college without learning how to use one. I’d write a paper in longhand and get it typed out by a typist for about $1 a page. And I was in the last era where you were able to do that. I do have an iPod. But again, I’ll have a friend feed a disc into his computer and get the song that I want while I lean over their shoulder saying, “Are you kidding? You can get this that fast?”

Giovanni Ribisi: I’m addicted to this Web site for the Khan Academy [www.khanacademy.org]. This guy, Salman Khan, went to MIT and ended up being an investment banker. He walked away from that to post online tutorials for everything from mathematics and biology to economics. He has been on CNN, and he’s won a ton of awards for the way that he teaches. Apparently he has more than 80,000 subscribers. It’s really just phenomenal what this guy has done for nonprofit education.

Q: Luke, what made you want to take this part?

Luke Wilson: I do a lot of comedy, and so the idea of getting to do something that was very different than anything I’d ever played really appealed to me. I was just appreciative of getting asked to do something like this, that someone would have enough faith to think, “Oh, this guy can do that.”

Q: And yet a lot of the material in Middle Men could have been played for huge laughs.

Luke Wilson: Yeah, but also I’ve seen the movie about four times now, and when I do I laugh a lot. Especially at Giovanni’s and Gabriel Macht’s characters. The thing about George [Gallo] is that he’s really funny and very quick-witted. He wrote Midnight Run and Bad Boys. But the movies I like always walk that fine line. The Wes Anderson movies always seem bittersweet. They can be sad, and then they can be really funny. And George just seemed to walk that line well.

As a rival, personally I do not see that happening.
