After creating a recurrent character out of Mega Porn Star Sasha Grey on his hit series, Entourage, it does not come as a surprise that Mark Whalberg‘s next project is reportedly a drama focusing on the porn industry.
Whalberg and Executive Producer of Entourage, Steve Levinson, have teamed up with writer James Frey on the project. James Frey is best known for his media controversies. Frey’s memoirs, titled A Million Little Pieces, detail experiences during his treatment for alcohol and drug addiction at a rehabilitation center in Minnesota. Shortly after being released, The Smoking Gun website published an article: “A Million Little Lies: Exposing James Frey’s Fiction Addiction” alleging that Frey fabricated large parts of his memoirs, including details about his criminal record. The questionable writing style eventually reached the ear of day time television giant, Oprah Winfrey, who invited James Frey and his publisher, Nan Talese, to the show for answers. Talese said she and Frey were led to believe the show was going to be a panel discussion on “Truth in America”. Just before air time, both Talese and Frey were told the topic of the show had been changed to “The James Frey Controversy”. According to Talese, at the end of the show, Oprah pulled Frey aside and said, “I know it was rough, but it’s just business.” In May 2009, Vanity Fair reported that Oprah Winfrey had called James Frey and made a formal apology for blasting him on her show for this scandal.
“The plot will focus on a giant video company under siege from Internet competitors and a girl from the Midwest whose boyfriend convinces her to move to Los Angeles to become a star,” - New York Post
“We’re going to make a sprawling epic about the porn business in LA. We’re going to tell the type of stories no one else has told before, and go places no one has gone before.” - James Frey, New York Post
There are many national publications that are already digging at this project and James Frey saying, “I’ve already seen Boogie Nights” and “Just to make sure everyone knows it’s a fictional show, author James Frey has been tapped to write the pilot.” Before you create a false notion of this being a preordained flop by a lying writer, hear me out.
The only thing released recently concerning the modern Adult Entertainment Industry, is Middle Men starring Luke Wilson and Giovanni Ribisi. The film has had mixed reviews and a mild showing, but has not failed. What people in the porn industry know about their fans, is that they DO NOT like associating their personal identities with their tastes and/or interests in pornography. Wahlberg‘s HBO series would fill the gap that a feature mainstream Adult Industry focused film creates, and most likely be much more risque. Those interested are able to watch the hour long drama in the comfort and privacy of their own homes, rather than place their faces amongst others in their community at the local movie theater.
Not to mention, have you read James Frey‘s newer works? In late 2007, Frey signed a new three-book, seven figure deal with Harper Collins to release his novel, Bright Shiny Morning, which was published May 13, 2008. The title made the New York Times Best Seller list, and Michelle Green of People magazine gave the novel a positive review, calling Frey a “wildly talented storyteller”, commenting that the novel is “so powerful it makes one wonder why he ever detoured into nonfiction.”
PHILADELPHIA—The last XXX movie theater in Philadelphia was on its way to becoming a part of history until, at the last minute, the city’s zoning board approved a variance to expand the space significantly. Despite continuing opposition from a neighborhood group, it now looks as if the venerable Forum Theater on Market Street will be around for years to come.
According to an article by the Philadelphia Inquirer architecture critic, Inga Saffron, the battle over the Forum is all but over, since it is very rare for the courts to reverse a zoning board decision. In March, a Common Pleas Court judge upheld a decision made in 2009 by the zooming board to allow the theater’s owner to raise the roof by three feet.
“That sounds trivial,” she wrote, “but, as theater attorney Ronald D. Patterson told me, the extra height would enable his client to insert a mezzanine and increase the operation’s total floor space by about 80 percent.”
The extra space will allow the theater to construct a new second-floor stage as well as install private viewing booths. In exchange for the variance, the theater’s longtime owner, Anthony Trombetta, said he would do away with the Les Gals, another strip club he owns on Market Street. According to Saffron, that allowance by Trombetta gave the zoning board the justification it needed as cover for its decision.
“The board’s logic, according to court documents, was that a one big porn palace was better for Market Street than two small ones,” she wrote. “In allowing Trombetta to enlarge the Forum, city planners and the zoning board went hook, line, and sinker for his argument that a consolidated porn operation would benefit Market Street.” Read More
PHILADELPHIA - Two days after ABC debuted a new hour-long weekly TV show by the same name, Hotmovies.com will premiere the original, award-winning Scoundrels starting today for a limited window. Thus, 27 years to the month after its original release, Cecil Howard’s legendary masterpiece of adult cinema will make a new kind of history.
For the first time since the advent of Internet Video On Demand, a movie will run on planned limited release. Scoundrels, which won AVN’s first ever Best Film Award in 1983, as well as Best Director and Best Editing, will be available to the popular website’s viewers for one-month only, with no further distribution plans in the hopper.
“It’s an historic deal in so many ways,” said HotMovies director of business development James Cybert. “Here is the first movie to win the porn equivalent of a best picture Oscar, with a living legend in his first serious starring role, by the greatest adult director to have ever lived. Then, you take all that, and you have 30 days to watch it. You may never have this chance again. It’s a whole new way of doing things but we believe it’s worth it for this man and this movie.”
The movie – shot, like all of Howard’s earlier works, on 35MM film – stars HotMovies spokesman and porn all-star Ron Jeremy is his first non-comedic feature role, as well as Hustler covergirl Copper Penny in her lone foray into adult movies.
Jeremy said he relished working on Howard’s ambitious films because they aimed to be more than just porn flicks. “Back in those days, when you worked on his films, you worked maybe 10 days as an actor and then maybe one day of sex,” said Jeremy. “Wake up in the morning and feel like an actor that day…. That’s why it was called the golden age of porn—the early ’80s.”Read the rest of this entry »
Philadelphia, PA – One housewife just got really real.
Though her native New Jersey is across the river, Philadelphia just became the new home for reality television star Danielle Staub’s celebrity sex tape. The amazing display of depravity that is Danielle Staub Raw first showed up today at 12:00 PM EST, available to the public exclusively on Philly-based www.HotMovies.com and HotMovies affiliate website www.dsraw.com
“We are thrilled to be able to bring this sex tape to the world” said James Cybert, HotMovies.com director of business development. “I am a huge fan of Danielle’s show and watching her get freaky on my site is like a dream come true. She’s always been the most controversial housewife and you can bet your foreclosed mansion that all of America will be talking about this MILF again.”
Staub stumbled upon national acclaim last year when cast in the fourth installment of Bravo’s Real Housewives series, The Real Housewives of New Jersey. The athletic mother of two girls quickly gained infamy for her antics both on the show and before. Yet even her alleged appearances as an escort, drug addict and felon in the 1995 book Cop Without a Badge can’t match the wicked perversion of the footage now showing on HotMovies.
It is obvious from this homespun horn fest that Danielle Staub truly enjoys sex. The amateur recording contains moments where passion overrides videography but Staub’s sexual prowess remains amazingly uninhibited and raw. Read the rest of this entry »
PHILADELPHIA—Once upon a time, AVN was just a 16-page, two-color, center-stapled movie-store giveaway, but in its sixth issue, June of 1983, it reviewed the tenth release from acclaimed XXX director Cecil Howard: Scoundrels.
“Scoundrels is certainly the most erotic hardcore film released so far this year,” we wrote. “Thanks to Anne Randall’s magnificent script, Scoundrels gives us three-dimensional characters that rarely find their way into adult plots. This family is sensitive and very normal in their feelings; the abnormalities come from the unstable setting. Scoundrels takes serious themes (the kinds that Taboo and Roommates tried to tackle) one step further, showing that its subject can be erotic and dangerous at the same time. … Scoundrels classifies as thinking man’s porn.”
In the decade since videotapes have gone the way of rotary dial phones and laserdiscs, Scoundrels has been off the market … but thanks to HotMovies.com, adult movie fans will now have another chance to see the film that won AVN’s first Best Film award, and which garnered its first Best Director and Best Editing trophies also.
“I’ve been involved with Cecil Howard, who produced this film, going back for three or four years,” HotMovies.com spokesman James Cybert told AVN, “and I’m the only one who’s been able to do a deal with him in the last 20 years to get any of his product out on the marketplace.” Read the rest of this entry »
HotMovies and HotMoviesForHer are the first video-on-demand websites to offer S.I.R.’s classic movies to the masses for their pay-per-minute pleasure. HotMovies.com boasts the world’s biggest library of porn, with more than 145,000 movies available in streaming and downloadable formats.
According to the company, S.I.R. Productions was the first independent, lesbian-owned production company to have its films widely recognized and lauded by the adult industry — and its movies have continued to influence successive generations of adult producers.
“S.I.R. Productions blew my young mind with their authentic lesbian movies that managed to be both erotic and hardcore,” James Cybert, director of business development for HotMovies, said. “I was obsessed with these films when they came out and love them even more today.”
“We take a lot of pride in the amazing collection of lesbian movies available on our network of sites and adding these classics makes for a banner day in our offices,” Cybert added.
Founded in the late 1990s by Shar Rednour and Jackie Strano, S.I.R. Productions quickly made a splash in the adult industry. Filling a previously overlooked niche with hot, high quality movies, it offers an educated undertone and movies that include real orgasms, intense chemistry between partners and diverse, sexy casts.
“At a time when most studios only used low-quality sex toys, S.I.R. always used the best,” a spokesperson stated. “Audiences learned how to use strap-ons correctly, whether watching Shar fuck all her girlfriends (yes, in high heels) or learning to bend over their own boyfriends.”
“We are so pleased to partner with HotMoviesforHer.com,” Rednour says. “We had purposely held our hand of high-quality content close to our hearts, examining many offers of pay-per-view sites and refusing them all year after year.”
“HotMoviesforHer is the perfect marriage for us because they understand how to present movies for the female audience in a fun, entertaining, informative and easy to navigate site,” Rednour added. “We’re happy to be with a site that has some heart and brains behind it!”
