Philadelphia, PA – As the calendar marks the passing of another year, HotMovies.com will continue its impressive run of premieres and exclusives by debuting Poor Little Shyla, the latest groundbreaking work from leading lesbian studio Girlfriends Films, on Jan. 1.
Girlfriends Films creator and CEO Dan O’Connell said he has no plans to release the title anywhere else. “It’s a little more risqué, shot and edited in what we think is the ideal style for VOD,” he said. “Given our feedback experience as HotMovies.com’s number one studio for the past four years, I knew it would be the best delivery alternative for this movie.”
Starring Rayveness, Faye Reagan, Ariella Ferrara, Georgia Jones, Shay Fox, Tanya Tate, Tabby and the eponymous Shyla Jennings in a role sure to raise eyebrows and more, the movie stands as a departure from the general Girlfriends Films formula, which often focuses on older/younger lesbian relationships and seductions. Shyla explores some edgier topics, including dominance and submission, group play and hazing.
In “Poor Little Shyla,” Shyla Jennings wants desperately to be like other schoolgirls her age; dating, gossiping, going to the mall and experimenting with her budding sexuality. Shyla is not like other girls though. Her confinement to leg braces and crutches make her the constant target of teasing, until one day the popular girls take a sudden interest in Shyla and her virginity. Are they able to look past Shyla’s differences, or will deflowering the disabled girl be the ultimate prank? After experiencing her first, powerful orgasm, Shyla may not even care about the motive. “Poor Little Shyla” also stars Faye Reagan, Georgia Jones and RayVeness.
“When and if we ever decide to release it on disk, it will have already become legendary on the Internet,” O’Connell said. “That should only help us sell more pieces in stores, and meanwhile we will have capitalized on the VOD market in the best possible way.”
HotMovies.com director of business development James Cybert claims the VOD-only release is part of a trend. “More producers every day are warming up to the idea of debuting, or even exclusively selling, movies through VOD,” he said. “It lowers costs and distribution headaches, and builds a serious buzz for any title that may later hit the shelves of brick and mortar establishments. I’m thrilled (O’Connell) agreed to try a VOD-only release when we asked him.”
Over the past twelve months, HotMovies.com premieres have included the Danielle Staub Raw celebrity sex tape and Underground Video’s Dreams of Salome 2. It will also debut Artcore, the latest release from visionary director Carlos Batts, in conjunction with the AEE show in early January. In addition, the site has been the exclusive home to the revival of a trio of movies from legendary producer/director Cecil Howard, Scoundrels, Star Angel and Foxtrot.
“It’s a treat to work with these producers on this level,” said Cybert. “In the case of Girlfriends Films, we are afforded the opportunity to bring their many, many fans a fresh and exciting movie from one of our favorite partners. It’s all part of the evolution of distribution, and I know we’ll have much more in store in 2011.”
